Conservative councillor Jenny Langston is surely a little naive when she says gender was not an issue in her selection as a prospective parliamentary candidate (Argus, September 25).
Why did it take her so many attempts to be selected against male opposition? Why was it Hove Conservative Club did not admit women until last year? Why are there just a tiny handful of women Tory MPs? Why is it male Tory MPs are blamed by women from all parties for keeping up the 'boys club' atmosphere of the House of Commons?
It is because fundamentally the Conservative Party believes a woman's place is in the home, not in the House.
