Workers at Korean car giant Daewoo's Worthing plant were told today that the company still did not have enough money to pay their salaries this month.
The 750 employees at the Worthing technical centre, Daewoo's main UK base, received letters last week saying the troubled firm had no funds available to pay October's wages.
The Seoul-based conglomerate is billions of pounds in debt and is in the hands of banks.
Workers were told that the Korean government was speaking to creditors this week, but no news is expected before Wednesday, as tomorrow is a bank holiday in South Korea.
The Manufacturing Science and Finance union, which represents staff in Worthing, said the delay was a "disgrace".
A memo to staff said money had been allocated for paying employees at Worthing, but no date could be given until after a meeting of major creditors in Korea on Wednesday.
"This is obviously a great disappointment to all of us and you can be assured that senior management are doing everything in their power to hasten payment," said the memo.
