Children's playgrounds across Arun could prove hazardous places for youngsters, a report says.
Arun Council says vandalism is increasing at play areas in Littlehampton and Bognor.
A risk assessment team from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents visited playgrounds and skate ramps in the area.
They found glass shards in bark pits and broken and vandalised equipment.
Skate ramps were also classed as too dangerous and expensive to maintain safely.
The team visited the area as part of routine checks to ensure safety precautions are taken and potential accidents can be prevented.
The report will go before members of the council's leisure committee on Wednesday.
Among measures councillors will have to consider is whether to lay rubber surfacing on sites prone to vandalism.
A council spokesman said: "The summer holidays saw a period of increased vandalism to many play areas.
"This took the form of broken glass, which is a particular problem in bark pits, and general vandalism to gates and fences."
