Although Brighton and Hove are booming, unemployment in the two towns remains stubbornly above the regional and national averages.
So it is welcome news that Kimberly-Clark, the giant firm best-known for making Kleenex and Andrex tissues, is to set up a service centre in Brighton.
Up to 300 jobs will be created, many of them ideal for people with skills in financial services or administration.
There has been no shortage of jobs in Brighton and Hove in the restaurant and shopping sectors which are thriving, especially in the town centre.
But Brighton also needs large companies, such as Kimberly-Clark, offering other jobs which will generally be better paid.
It is also highly encouraging that Kimberly-Clark chose Brighton for its European services centre using a number of criteria such as transport and the availability of skilled staff.
Other firms of similar size and stature could also decide to locate services in Brighton for similar reasons.
What Brighton and Hove Council must ensure in its Local Plan is that there are enough suitable sites available which will be attractive to these firms.
