A Sussex man has united 30 of the world's most prestigious companies to create the definitive guide to luxury on the ocean waves.
Uckfield-based Gareth Gammon, business development director of Denton Design, built the Cruise Information Service, a travel website aimed at getting people on to liners.
It draws together information from famous names such as Cunard Line, Orient-Express Cruises and Costa Cruises.
Mr Gammon: "Because we were the conduit between 30 cruise lines, we had to standardise the information.
"They couldn't all say they were the best in the world!"
The site offers guides to cruises across the globe and every cruise ship in use or due to be built in the next five years.
Profiles of cruise lines are included, along with information on how to book. A regular e-mail newsletter is sent to registered users to keep them up to date with developments in the industry.
Visitors to the site can learn about the scenery, culture and coastline of every country they will stop off at during a cruise.
The site's high-profile launch earned coverage in a number of national newspapers.
Mr Gammon first made contact with the cruising industry when he found he needed to book a honeymoon in a hurry.
He said: "I'd forgotten the honeymoon fell to me. It was the only thing left on teletext."
He soon made business contacts on the trip, despite the objections of his wife.
"She said 'leave the captain alone and come and have a jacuzzi'."
Denton Design has since completed on and offline work for First Choice, Fred Olsen and P&O cruise firms.
Its employees are sent around the world to research a series of guides to ports frequented by liners.
