While living in Battle his film career took off, starting with From Russia With Love in 1963 While Desmond was resting between films he would spend many hours working on the garden at Whitelands.

The property also has a swimming pool, sauna and tennis courts. It is being sold through the Lewes office of estate agency Humberts.

It has a master bedroom with en suite bathroom, two further double bedrooms and a family bathroom.

There are two further bedrooms and another bathroom on the second floor. An extensive cellar runs under the entire house.
