A police sergeant was injured when his patrol car was involved in a crash with a taxi.
The unnamed officer, based at the John Street police station in Brighton, was answering a 999 call to a fight when the accident happened last night.
He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, suffering from whiplash. He was later discharged and is off work today.
Police said there were no reports of injuries to the taxi driver.
The accident happened at midnight at the junction of North Street and Western Road, near the Clock Tower.
Both vehicles were severely damaged and tow-trucks were needed to remove them from the scene.
