A man was hit by a car last night in what police suspect was a "love triangle" feud.
The alleged attack happened in a Brighton car park and there were reports the victim was hit more than once by the car.
It happened at 9pm outside the Sportsman pub at Withdean stadium, close to the Withdean police box.
The 64-year-old man was hit by a Ford Sierra and left with head injuries and shock.
He was taken by ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton.
He was not seriously hurt and was expected to be discharged today.
A 56-year-old man from Hurstpierpoint was arrested and was today helping police with their inquiries.
The area where the incident happened was cordoned off while police searched for evidence.
Officers, led by Detective Sergeant Dobs O'Brien, were investigating the background to the incident.
Mr O'Brien said the inquiry was still in its early stages, but it is thought it involved a separated couple and another man.
Witnesses should call Mr O'Brien on 0845 6070999.
