Fire investigators were searching for clues last night after a blaze caused a Bexhill care home to be evacuated.
Police were also called to investigate at the care home at Fairmount Road.
The alarm was raised shortly before 7pm when smoke was seen rising from the rear of the three-storey building.
Firefighters tackled the blaze, in a second-floor flat, and evacuated several people.
They used fans to blow smoke out of the care home.
The fire started in an unoccupied bedroom on the second floor.
No one was hurt but the entire second floor was severely damaged by smoke.
