Loan hero Matthew Wicks' future at Albion is in the melting pot.
Peterborough boss Barry Fry has recalled the young defender and slapped on his head a £50,000 price tag.
Wicks bagged his third goal for Albion in last night's record-breaking 2-0 win at Hull.
It was Wicks' final match of his month's loan from London Road and Fry's price demand could destroy the youngster's dream of a permanent move.
Albion manager Micky Adams revealed: "I've had a call from Barry, saying he's got a few injuries for their match on Sunday.
"He wanted Matthew to report to Peterborough this morning at ten o'clock.
"I'll speak to my chairman, Dick Knight, and we'll decide where we are going. There's not a bottomless pit at this club.
"It doesn't matter how many times the fans scream and shout for someone. At the end of the day if the money isn't there, I'm not going to keep crying foul to the board of directors about cash and players, because that's not right.
"Dick is a supporter, all of the directors are fans and if they can afford to get him they will."
Wicks' defensive partner, Danny Cullip, said: "We would all like Matthew to stay.
"He's done very well for us. We've had a brilliant run of five wins and five clean sheets as well."
Captain Paul Rogers struck his third goal in five games last night to clinch Albion's fifth straight League win without conceding a goal - a club record.
Bob Booker, celebrating his first match as Adams' new No. 2, said: "The result didn't surprise me at all. I've only been here a week but the attitude of the players and the way they have worked has been great."
The result put Albion into the third automatic promotion spot behind leaders Chesterfield and Cheltenham.
Chesterfield are six points ahead of Adams' men after their 2-1 win against Plymouth at the Recreation Ground.
Adams was at Scunthorpe today to spy on next Saturday's visitors to Withdean.
