Budding motorbike rider Luke Palmer is looking for help to pursue his dream.

The 22-year-old from Plumpton Green recently won his first race in the BEMSEE club's Rookie 400 class at Lydden Hill in Kent.

Now Palmer is looking for sponsorship in order to build a bright future for himself in the sport.

The student, who is currently on a year out of university, made his debut in the Rookie 400 class at Mallory Park in July.

Palmer said: "I have always wanted to do it but I thought it wasn't possible without having loads of money.

"I did a track day at Mallory Park in March and that gave me the bug for it.

"I sold my road bike in July and got into racing after that."

At his first outing at Mallory, Palmer finished 15th in class, which was a pleasing start.

He crashed in his next outing, but steadily improved after that, registering a series of top ten finishes before claiming his first class victory at the Lord of Lydden meeting on September 16.Palmer said: "It was a brilliant feeling. I could not believe it.

"I have been riding motorbikes since I was ten years old and this was a wonderful feeling."

Since his first race, Palmer has joined forces with another Rookie racer, 22-year-old Edward Biggs from Sayers Common, to create their own team.

They now travel to meetings together and race alongside each other.

The pair are determined to continue in the sport and will be able to compete in BEMSEE's Rookie class again next season before progressing to the Supersport 400 class.

However, they are now looking for sponsorship to help them in their racing.

Palmer added: "I want to take it on from here, but it is a case of getting funding for it."

Anyone who can help with sponsorship should contact Palmer's parents at Plumpton Green Garage on 01273 890236.
