Regulars at an Angmering pub went bonkers for conkers in aid of a children's hospice.
Big hearted drinkers from the Spotted Cow turned out in force to raise money for an appeal fund which could not have been better named.
Proceeds from yesterday's event will go to the £5 million Chestnut Tree House Appeal, launched by St Barnabas Hospice at Worthing to build a children's hospice.
The event - which celebrated its 20th anniversary - was organised by Scotch, the Spotted Cow Organisation To Create Help.
Organiser Anthony Booty and his helpers spent hours scouring the area trying to beat the kids to the best conkers, then spent a morning marking and drilling them.
Competitors old and young took part in teams of three.
Mr Booty said: "It is always a great spectacle and a traditional way of raising money for a very good cause."
He estimates the event raised between £600 and £700 for the appeal.
