Steve Wicks has spoken out about the game of cat and mouse between Albion and Peterborough which has left his son "stuck in the middle".

Matthew Wicks is back training with Peterborough following the expiry of his month on loan with the Seagulls.

His father and agent still expects him to end up making a permanent move to Albion.

But the former QPR and Chelsea player is worried about the impact the ongoing transfer wrangle is having on the young central defender.

And the ex-Crawley boss fears a deal may not now be finalised before Saturday's home game against Scunthorpe.

Wicks senior said: "Matt has got six months of his contract to go. The deal has changed about three times, which I can understand Brighton being upset about, and I feel sorry for him. This is his future.

"He has handled the pressure of playing for his future very well, which is something I never had to do in my career.

"I just wish this could be sorted out. I know he wants to sign for Brighton more than anything."

Peterborough manager Barry Fry is demanding a £50,000 fee, payable in two equal installments.
