It was interesting to see the photo of the elegant spiral staircase, situated in the East Street lock of Hanningtons, where I worked for ten years between 1949 and 1959.
I was in the first floor showroom and used those stairs many times every day. I was told it was a genuine Adams staircase, dating from the Regency period.
The beautiful structure was removed comparatively recently and I would like to know what happened to it since and where it now is, as it must be both valuable and desirable.
