Errol Seaman is tipping Brighton Bears to halt their losing start to the season in the next couple of games.

Bears visit winless Edinburgh Rocks tonight before entertaining Manchester Giants in the National Cup first round tomorrow and former Giants small/forward Seaman is supremely confident.

He said: "We are getting much closer now and we're going to start winning. Everyone in Brighton should remain optimistic."

Bears lost their last game to Leopards by 14 points, having been beaten by more than 20 points in their first three matches against Birmingham, Thames Valley and London Towers and Seaman insisted things are coming together.

He added: "We just need to play 40 minutes and we'll be OK. We can't get too caught up with the start we've made. We're not worrying about the opposition, we're just working on our game. We are approaching all matches the same, we're confident of beating whoever we face and we're going to get there.

"Being zero and four is not the start we wanted but with a brand new team it is normal that you will need a period of time to get used to each other and that is what is happening right now."

Bears co-captain, Michael Brown, is certain his team will come good once they have worked out the various styles of their opponents.

He said: "We have the talented players to win games. If you look at our roster we have more inexperienced guys than veterans.

"We have young guys straight out of college and they are hungry to prove it. They are working hard in practice and we've got to translate that into game situations."

Coach Mark Dunning believes confidence will soar through the ranks as soon as Bears open their account. He said: "Confidence in sport is almost everything. It can sometimes do miraculous things and even substitute for lack of skill."
