I have just returned from a most enjoyable holiday in Germany. Not only does the country seem to have solved its litter problems, but toilets there were a real pleasure to use with very pleasant attendants on hand should you need assistance.

The toilets are franchised and are often family concerns, apparently offering a good return. Local councils issue guidelines, a licence and inspect on a regular basis.
