Police are hunting a hit-and-run driver who left a 13-year-old boy lying injured in the road.
The teenager was one of two friends crossing Hide Hallow in Langney, Eastbourne, when a car appeared to run at them.
One of the youngsters managed to leap out of its path but the other was struck.
The car was seen to slow down then speed off, leaving the teenager lying in the road.
The boy, who has not been named, was taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital with cuts and bruises.
Police now hope to trace the driver of the small hatchback car involved in the incident, which happened at 9.20pm on Monday.
