While the debate continues on whether people should give directly to beggars, most agree homeless people and those with drug/drink dependencies should be able to obtain the help they need.
It would help those who want to give if the Argus regularly printed a list of local charities, including contact details and information on the kinds of things they require.
Money could also then be sent directly to these groups. The focus could then change from "don't give to beggars" to "donations accepted here".
