Celebrities will be out in force to raise money for sick and disadvantaged youngsters.

Stars including actors Joe McGann, Christopher Biggins and TV journalist Nick Owen will attend the Variety Club's regional dinner and ball at Brighton's Metropole Hotel on October 28.

They will be among 450 guests who will enjoy a cabaret including a 12-piece showband, Bucks Fizz and Tom Jones and Elvis Presley impersonators.

Meanwhile, a £500 cheque will be donated to the Argus Appeal by the Variety Club's Chief Barker for Great Britain, Tony Hatch, who composed the theme tune for Neighbours.

Organiser Mike Mendoza said: "This promises to be the biggest and best variety night so far.

"The Variety Club has always been famous for its glitzy events and this promises not to disappoint with a night of sheer entertainment."
