I was pleased to read chief inspector Carroll Lamport and her officers attempted to rescue the cattle stranded on Landport brooks. It must have been quite hair-raising.
However, I was surprised the RSPCA is considering prosecuting farmers who lost animals in the recent floods. The speed at which the waters rose was quite extraordinary. No farmer would deliberately leave his animals to drown. After all, they are his livelihood.
