A correspondent complains about the truncation of bus route 25 (Opinion, October 13). This may have started in May, when Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company withdrew services 42 and 44 which served Churchill Square and replaced them with service 21 which terminates at London Road.
Combining these services, with extended intervals and erratic running often entailing a very long wait over and above the published timetable. It also means Brighton and Hove are saving an awful lot of money at bus users' expense.
Shortening routes is clearly designed to force people to catch two buses instead of one. The way things are going no one in their right mind will use public transport if they have other means and that is short-sighted bus company policy.
Bus companies should produce what the passenger wants, and if Brighton and Hove can't perhaps competition should be introduced.
