I am grateful to the Argus for highlighting Brighton and Hove Council's above average performance in the government's social services league tables (Argus, October 13). In case there's any confusion, I would like to point out because of our good performance we are not under investigation by inspectors.
The figures in the article were for the year to April 2000. We would welcome further examination of our current performance in reviewing within six months cases of children on our child protection register. It is now 95 per cent and rising, against a national average of 83 per cent.
