Wendy Taylor is wrong in blaming Tony Blair for the cancellation of the A27 Worthing bypass. It was the previous Tory administration, in its final desperate budget, which tried to swap roads for votes in its poorly-thought out death throes.
Sir George Young, the then Tory Secretary of State for Transport, publicly stated he felt this was what the public wanted.
Since Labour came to power it has committed support and funding to the long-awaited Boundstone Crossing. The ongoing review of the A27 in the area will hopefully lead to a full strategy for dealing with our ongoing transport
problems.
