A father and son have beaten the odds by both hitting a hole-in-one on the same green, on the same course, in the same week.
Ray and Tim Hoyles were celebrating after they both struck lucky on hole number six, otherwise known as the 'drop hole', at Brighton and Hove Golf Club.
Ray, a retired charted accountant from Hangleton was the first to hit a hole-in-one while playing a friendly game of doubles.
His son Tim, from Heathfield, who works for a communications company, then matched his achievement in a competition match six days later.
He said: "I have been playing golf for about 30 years and this is my first hole-in-one. I was amazed and when my son hit a hole-in-one on the same green it was even more amazing."
Club secretary Doug Rodbard said there are usually about four or five hole-in-ones played on the course each year. He thought the Hoyles were the first father and son duo to achieve it since the club started in 1887.
He said: "It's unique for a father and son to get a hole-in-one on the same green within a week.
"There have been 40 hole-in-ones at the club in the last 25 years but there are still professional golfers on the circuit who have never had one."
