It was interesting to see the article on Prince Edward's visit to the flood-stricken areas around Lewes and Uckfield (Argus, October 18) but a shame there was no mention of the fantastic job carried out by staff of Lewes District Council.
Staff worked very hard, covering everything from continuous manning of the switchboard and rehousing people whose homes were flooded to helping rescue stranded livestock and giving health advice to residents.
The picture showing council chairman Councillor Maureen Messer again made no mention of the district council, although Maureen has been working very hard to help provide food and run the relief centre at Malling Community Centre, which is still operational. I think the Argus missed a good story there!
Perhaps the staff of Lewes District Council were so busy getting Lewes up and running again they didn't have time to put out press releases or pose for
photos!
