LEWES are almost certain to be awarded the points from their abandoned match with Camberley but Rooks boss Jimmy Quinn believes the punishment is not enough.

The Ryman League held a hearing last Friday to discuss the recent division three game which saw Camberley refuse to return to the pitch at the referee's request following a floodlight failure. The visitors were trailing 6-0 when the match was interrupted with 20 minutes remaining. Although the floodlights had been fixed, Camberley chairman Ian Waldren told his players to get changed and go home.

Both Lewes and Camberley have been sworn to secrecy over last Friday's decision, with the Ryman League saying the outcome will be announced when a 14-day period of appeal is over.

Although Lewes secretary Steve Kitchener would not say whether the Rooks had been awarded the points, he confirmed they would not appealing against the decision.

But Quinn said: "We were creating chance after chance and we felt we would score more goals.

"I would expect us to get the points but if they award us the game 6-0, we are not happy with felt. We have been denied the chance of playing 90 minutes.

"It is severe enough to tell their chairman if there is ever a repeat he should be kicked out of football.

"If we all took that attitude and withdrew our team when we were losing, where would that leave football?

"It is the worst thing I have ever seen in football. "
