Car drivers trying to avoid paying parking fees face a crackdown following complaints from residents.
The get tough message is for motorists who are avoiding paying in East Grinstead's new on-street parking zones by using roads just outside the scheme's boundary.
But people living in these roads say they are finding it increasingly difficult to park outside their homes.
Now a series of changes to the parking system, which was launched in May, have been approved by the highways authority, which is spending £5,000 to sort out the problem.
Single yellow lines are being painted in Blount Avenue and Lodge Close, with residents' parking bays introduced in Crescent Road.
West Sussex County Council will also be putting down double yellow lines at junctions of West Hill and Gardenswood Road with Brooklands Way.
Derrick Fawcett, head of highways, said: "It is to be expected that during the first few months of operation unexpected problems will come to light which will require changes.
"But the overall impression after the first four months is that the scheme has been operating satisfactorily."
