Three Sussex firms have received Government grants to develop pioneering projects.
The Small Business Service grants are awarded to small companies and individuals to improve use of technology and introduce new products.
SEOS Displays of Burgess Hill has won £150,000 to help advance an artificial training environment for jet pilots.
The company has created a simulator capable of immersing trainees in an unprecedented range of flight situations.
SEOS research and development manager David Lewis said: "This valuable award will allow SEOS to market our revolutionary display within two years."
Gearing & Watson Electronics of Hailsham will further a project called vibrations generators to develop low-cost, high-performance generators with a grant for £45,000.
In Wood Devel-opment of Hartfield was awarded £25,875 to investigate the practicality of using chestnut tree wood to construct joints.
