Four people are recovering in hospital after a crash which left a major East Sussex road closed for more than two-and-a-half hours.
The accident happened on the A22 at Golden Cross, near Hailsham, last night near the junction with Laughton Road.
An elderly driver lost control of her Vauxhall Nova as she negotiated a bend and crashed into road signs.
Emergency services closed the southbound lane while the injured people were cut free from the car.
All four were taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital. They have not been named by Sussex Police, who operate a data protection policy.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw the accident to contact Polegate traffic police on 01323 414054.
