Revellers could party at a West Sussex nightclub until six in the morning the day after Boxing Day and on New Year's Day despite noise complaints from residents.
The Empire Club on the Esplanade in Bognor has asked Arun District Council to extend the club's entertainment licence on the two nights.
But locals have already written to council chiefs complaining about loud music booming from the club and disturbance caused by customers.
Noise diaries were given to those complaining to record times and dates of excessive noise and monitoring equipment installed in the house of a complainant.
A noise pollution officer was brought in to assess how much noise the club was creating and found nuisance levels were too high.
Councillors will now have to decide whether or not to allow the club to open until the early hours and if members give the go ahead they could put special conditions on the licence.
A council spokesman said: "Although complaints continue to be received and monitoring has been carried out, there is insufficient evidence to show a statutory nuisance."
A decision will be made by the council's licensing committee tomorrow. Nobody from The Empire was available for comment.
