I read with amazement the suggestions from the so-called Green Party that Brighton and Hove Albion should be required to develop a new stadium at Withdean. Councillor Pete West claims all the club's proposals for a stadium at Falmer can be contained at Withdean.
What nonsense! A stadium on the scale the club is planning for Falmer would dominate Withdean to such an extent that severe damage would be caused to the local nature reserve, possibly leading to its demolition. While he is correct in stating Withdean is coping well with the football club, this cannot become a permanent solution.
How can the Green Party propose the demolition of a nature reserve to build a football stadium? Surely this must be a first.
