Lord Phillips has produced a damning report on the BSE fiasco. As expected, he has soft-pedalled on fixing responsibility on ministers and public servants, thus reinforcing the culture of mutual support fashioned by politicians.
The consequences of BSE are the direct politicisation of the Civil Service, started by Margaret Thatcher and continued by John Major and Tony Blair. These consequences, which could lead to the death of thousands, if not millions of our fellow citizens, derive from Tory ministerial in-fighting over retaining office, Europe, the euro and the exchange rate mechanism, which cost us billions.
Our morals, currency, political freedom and the entire infrastructure of our country is in free-fall. This will not be checked or reversed unless John Major and all ministers of his former cabinet are arrested, every pence of their assets seized towards compensating BSE casualties and they are put on trial on charges of negligence.
-Cyril Thorton, Pensioner Coalition Parliamentary candidate for Wealden
