I must express my annoyance and dismay at the foolishness of Brighton and Hove Council in locating the new disabled parking spaces on the slope at the side of Churchill Square/Canon Place. It is obvious those who recommended this had no idea how useless it would be to the majority of genuinely disabled people.
I am wheelchair-bound most of the time and rely on my long-suffering husband to get me out and about. Imagine how we felt on seeing these stupid spaces placed on a hill, impossible for him to push the wheelchair up.
Other wheelchair users who rely on their own manipulation of the wheelchair, severe asthmatics and those with severe walking disabilities will also find the new arrangement impossible to cope with.
Do the people who make decisions on these essential issues ever bother to consult disabled people or organisations?
I and fellow disabled people want to see immediate action over this unacceptable parking plan.
