A cyclist was taken to hospital after being involved in a pile-up on an icy road.
The accident happened on the busy A272 at Newick, at around 6.50am on Saturday when traffic hit a patch of black ice.
Four cars and a lorry lost control and skidded off the road and the female cyclist fell off her bike.
She was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital suffering a broken collarbone.
The lorry overturned and a bag of cement on the back flew off hitting a car which had just spun off the road onto the verge.
Although no one in the vehicles needed hospital attention, the lorry driver cut his face climbing out of the cab. He was treated at the scene for minor facial injuries.
Police had put up signs warning drivers there was ice on the road.
