Although I was unable to attend a recent meeting of the Environmental Services Executive Decision Making Committee to discuss further improvements to George Street, Hove, as it was not open to the public, I was able to pick up the agenda.
This was the meeting where the decision was made to spend a further £325,000 to improve the economic and physical attractiveness of Hove town centre.
The figure has now risen to £400,000 and readers may be interested to know where the money is going.
On top of carriageway/ parking area surfacing, there are pages on granite setts, drainage channels, footway paving, tactile paving and footway delineator strips.
Street furniture includes seats costing £361, litter bins at £753, cycle stands £507.50, and more, all plus VAT. The grilles around any future trees planted will cost £180 each.
