The people who abandoned the train delayed for several hours just before Preston Park station and walked along the track (Argus, October 27) were stupid. It would have been easy to stumble and break a bone in the dark.

My husband works on the railway track and at this time of year, out in all weather, day or night, it's not much fun. Those commuters who bleat on about late trains should stop thinking about themselves for once and spare a thought for those out removing blown-down trees and replacing damaged rails in order to get the trains moving again.
