The death of a man in Newhaven today is no longer being treated as suspicious.
Tests were continuing to determine what killed the 58-year-old, found slumped on the floor of a bathroom in Gibbon Road on Sunday.
Bruising was found round his neck but a post-mortem examination showed the man was not a victim of violence.
The examination was inconclusive and toxicology tests are being carried out.
A woman questioned on Sunday evening was later released.
A police spokesman said: "We have to treat deaths as suspicious initially when the cause of death is not known.
"In this case, crime is no longer suspected but our inquiries are continuing."
Police were called to the terraced house in Gobbin Road at 5.30pm on Sunday. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
