A knife-wielding robber ransacked rooms after bursting into a house in Brighton.
He threatened to kill the 56-year-old occupant and a struggle ensued before the homeowner fled to safety.
Police were called as the intruder began smashing crockery and furniture at the address in The Avenue, Moulsecoomb.
Officers arrived and another violent struggle broke out between the intruder and the occupant, who suffered torn shoulder ligaments, bruising and shock.
A 39-year-old man has been arrested and was today helping with inquiries at the John Street station.
The incident took place at 5pm on Sunday and police are appealing for witnesses.
