The family of a missing man today pleaded: "Please get in touch - we want you home for Christmas."
Brian Compton, a 58-year-old carpenter-joiner, disappeared from his Brighton home more than a week ago.
Known to be depressed because of lack of work, he drove off in his G-registered black Sierra Sapphire on Monday from his home in Redhill Drive, Westdene.
His family, including his partner Angela and his son Steve Compton, have not heard from him since.
His son, a 31-year-old bank employee in Worthing, said: "We are all very concerned and we want him to know that no matter what problems there are, we can work them out.
"Please get in touch and let us know you are safe. We want you home for Christmas."
Mr Compton is about 5ft 11in, slightly tanned, has grey, receding hair, and was last seen wearing a blue-grey short, black jogging bottoms, black leather jacket, sandy-coloured CAT boots, and glasses.
Anyone with information should contact Brighton police on 0845 6070 999.
