A man was killed riding his high-powered motorbike just nine days before the birth of his first child, an inquest heard.
Experienced rider David Campbell-Jones, 29, died from multiple injuries after crashing head-on on his 600cc Honda Fireblade with an articulated lorry.
He failed to negotiate a sharp bend on the A267 at Argos Hill on August 15, this year.
The tragedy happened as Mr Campbell-Jones, head chef at the Best Beech Inn, Wadhurst, took the motorbike for a ride in bright, clear weather conditions.
Witnesses told the Eastbourne inquest he had been driving at considerable speed when he approached a series of bends.
After failing to take one of them, his bike's front wheel locked and he crossed to the other side of the narrow road into the path of a Tesco lorry.
Mr Campbell-Jones, of Best Beech Hill, Wadhurst, died at the scene.
Nine days later his wife Jean gave birth prematurely to daughter Eve.
Coroner Alan Craze recorded a verdict of accidental death.
