Regarding Becky Reynolds' letter about the cycle lanes in Lewes Road (Opinion, December 9), I would like to point out Rule 191 of the Highway Code states: "Cycle lanes are shown by road markings and signs. You must not drive or park in a cycle lane marked by a solid white line during its times of operation. Do not drive or park in a cycle lane marked by a broken white line unless it is unavoidable. You must not park in a cycle lane whilst waiting restrictions apply."
Rule 139 states: "Give motorcyclists, cyclists and horse riders as much room as you would a car when overtaking."
If only drivers would keep to those simple rules, life would be much safer for all road users.
