The supermarket chain Somerfield is cashing in on Christmas at its London Road branch in Brighton.
Normally it gives free delivery of orders costing more than £25 but this has been increased to £50 during the festive season.
The increase affects people such as pensioner Alice Molloy from Bevendean, who can ill afford to pay the £3 delivery charge on her Christmas order of £26.
Somerfield should be giving regular customers such as Alice a bonus rather than treating them in this Scrooge-like fashion.
A free delivery service should be consistent all year round and not altered at Christmas.
