So, Mr Fanshawe got his city by the sea. Doubtless he will bask in the glory of it and we will all rejoice in his new twin cathedrals of stadium-on-the-Downs and superstore-by-station.
I would prefer a local football ground built on a brownfield site and an eco- village on the railway land with decentralised, sustainable communities across the area.
It strikes me as a better place to be than the corporate wasteland "city by the sea" will inevitably become.
My only consolation is I live in Portslade - a backwater perhaps, but at least it still has an identity of its own.
