When it comes to providing the public with misinformation, the Tories on Adur District Council have become serial offenders (Councillor Funnell, December 18).
To put the record straight, I was not invited to the Conservative Party meeting at King's Manor School, nor were any of my colleagues. Attendance would have been difficult anyway as I was off work with a viral infection.
The second misleading comment focused on the results of a questionnaire Coun Funnell used to back up his weak arguments.
He omitted to inform your readership that the flawed consultation received only a 13 per cent response rate.
Responsible councillors do not base decisions on such an unrepresentative sample but seek informed views from a wider population.
While our neighbours have brought their town into the 21st Century by acquiring city status, the Tories of Adur and their Nimby acolytes are hell-bent on dragging us back to the 19th Century.
In doing so, they are threatening jobs and homes for future generations of Adur residents.
-Coun Mike Willson, leader, Labour Group, Adur District Council
