Refuse collectors who staged a lightning strike in Mid Sussex have returned to work.
They staged a stoppage on Wednesday in a dispute about payment for catching up with the Christmas backlog.
But they were back at work yesterday, despite the tricky conditions caused by snow and icy roads.
They hope talks will produce a settlement with the management of their employer, waste firm Sita.
The stoppage also included road sweepers and recycling workers also employed by the company. About 70 staff were involved.
The workers say the amount they have been offered so far is nowhere near the amount Sita workers in Brighton and Hove are getting.
GMB union rep Declan MacIntyre said: "They agreed to go back to work as a gesture of goodwill. The firm said it would not negotiate with a gun held to its head."
