I am wondering exactly what Mrs Smith of Tongdean Rise (Opinion, December 21) has against Teresa Baker Funeral Director, leaving aside her comments regarding free burger vouchers and subsequent cholesterol intake.
For some time past I have noticed a group of elderly/ middle-aged people in Mrs Baker's Lewes Road office, chatting and generally relaxing, and did have an idea it was some sort of coffee morning organised to keep in touch with her bereaved clients. I thought what a lovely idea this was. Since reading the Argus recently I see that this is just the case.
When I lost my father a few years ago I was utterly devastated and feel this sort of meeting would have helped me enormously. It must certainly help with the isolation felt at this distressing time. And, after all, no one is forced to attend.
Ignore the snide comments, Mrs Baker, and keep up the good work. When it is my turn to push up the daisies, it would please me greatly to have you dealing with my funeral arrangements.
