Motorists faced rush hour chaos today following a five-vehicle smash on the A23.
The accident happened on the northbound carriageway at Handcross Hill, near Haywards Heath, at 6.50am.
Four cars including a Peugeot 406, a Ford Escort and a Ford Sierra, and a lorry were involved in the smash.
It is thought the cars were involved in a shunt during appalling weather conditions.
There were no injuries in the accident and all vehicles were cleared from the road within 20 minutes.
The crash caused long tailbacks in the area.
The chaos was made worse after several cars broke down further north on the road between Horsham and Crawley.
