Police raided a flat in Worthing and arrested a man on fire arms offences in the early hours of this morning.
The raid happened just before midnight at a first floor flat in Carlyse House, off Bridge Road.
It is believed the man had been armed with one or more guns.
A Sussex police spokesman said: "Police attended an address in Bridge Road, Worthing, at 11.48pm on Thursday 4 January following reports of a man causing a disturbance at a residential property with what was described as possibly a fire arm.
"Specialist police attended and a 47-year-old man was arrested with fire arm offences just after 1.15am. He is currently in custody and will be interviewed later today."
