It is a sorry irony that Labour, which has imposed more interfering regulation than any other government of modern times, is so feeble in dealing with the real criminals in our society.
Falling police numbers and morale, rising crime, increased offences against children, the prevalent yob culture - these are the realities of Labour's failing policies.
The freeing of 27,000 criminals from jail under the early release schemes, together with the restrictions on the individual's right to defend property, reinforce the strong perception that the State is more on the side of the criminal rather than the victim.
Political correctness appears a greater priority than law enforcement.
We need a new government that will be tough and resolute on crime and fully support the police in its task of protecting all law abiding members of our society.
