Albion's LDV Vans Trophy tie against Brentford on Tuesday will be a real old boys reunion.

Six of the Seagulls' playing and management staff used to be with the Bees.

Micky Adams was in charge at Griffin Park three seasons ago before becoming a victim of the Ron Noades takeover. Assistant Bob Booker had two long spells at Brentford, the first as a player and the second as youth team coach.

Defenders Danny Cullip and Paul Watson, midfielder Charlie Oatway and forward Darren Freeman all joined Albion from Brentford.

Adams has fond memories of his stint with the West Londoners, although not the manner of his departure.

"I was there for a relatively short time and enjoyed it immensely," he said.

"I wanted to carry on and I didn't enjoy the feeling of being sacked, certainly not hearing about it while I was on holiday. But I enjoyed my relationship with the fans, who were absolutely spot-on."

The match has been switched to Griffin Park due to the state of the Withdean pitch.

How many of the Brentford old boys actually play remains to be seen, but Adams revealed: "I will probably experiment slightly.

"There may not be as many changes as against Cardiff in the last round, but I will certainly give some a go.

"I've got a small squad and we cannot carry too many injuries, but I've got some decent kids coming through and I won't be afraid to use them if I have to.

"Players like Dean Hammond, Adam Virgo, Daniel Marney and Chris McPhee have all progressed."

Brentford's transfer-listed former Albion loan signing Lorenzo Pinamonte expects to be watching.

"I am not even in the 16 at the moment," he said.
